Setting up an online shop is one of the most cost effective and safest way to get in to business. Naturally, there are literally MILLIONS of online stores, just because you have an online shop with products or services for sale, doesn’t mean that people will find you, let alone buy from you.
That said, you should not be discouraged from setting up an online shop, it’s just wise to take that in to account before you start, otherwise you may naively assume that once you get an online shop up and running, that people will just start buying like mad. This rarely happens, but that does not mean it’s not worth being online.
The point to remember is that if you assume that people will not stumble upon you shop, you need to think ‘creatively’ so that you lead people to your shop.
If you watch many reviews on Youtube, you will see that many of those who make review videos, end with directing you to a link below to buy from, sometimes it is just a commission based link, but other times, it is their own shop.
This is just one example of how you can direct people to your shop, start with friends, then friends of friends, then using Social Media, the world is literally your Oyster.
The key is to use content elsewhere to draw attention to your products/services and therefore your shop. It can cost MILLIONS to promote your domain around the world, but with Social Media, you can in theory do it for free!
So to re-cap, look at how you can set up an online shop, this video is very long, but it does cover EVERY SINGE STEP, I recently came across it and I was impressed by how comprehensive it is.
You can pay for someone to set up your shop, if you struggle, but if you go about it the right way, you don’t need to spend a great deal of money, then the real work is adding all the products and categories and everything else that will be required, but once that is done, you will simply have to maintain and update your shop and hopefully, it will not be too long before you get your first sale.
